The New Haven Lounge welcomes the Talbot Mayo Band for an unforgettable evening of original Americana music.
Born and raised in rural Maryland, Talbot Mayo grew up in a family steeped in bluegrass, gospel, and folk traditions, often playing late into the night on their historic family farm. By age four, she was performing alongside her parents, brother, and extended family in the Mayo Family Band, and by six she had picked up the fiddle. At fourteen, Talbot taught herself guitar on the Blueridge dreadnought she still plays today, kicking off a songwriting journey that continues to evolve.
Her career includes co-founding the all-original Monkton Road Band—releasing two EPs including the Nashville-recorded Hometown Poets (2023)—and extensive collaborations with Baltimore artists. In 2024, Talbot recorded her solo EP Big Shot in Nashville with producer Matt Rollings and an all-star cast of musicians, cementing her reputation as a powerful songwriter and performer.
With her trio, Talbot delivers songs that defy easy categorization, grounded in bluegrass but colored with honky-tonk twang, heartfelt storytelling, and a gritty alternative edge. Her witty lyrics and commanding vocals—often likened to Dolly Parton or Loretta Lynn—make her live shows both intimate and electric.
This is a night of music you won’t want to miss.
