Baltimore Honky Tonk, in partnership with the Center for Cultural Vibrancy, is proud to welcome Cherokee singer-songwriter Agalisiga “The Chuj” Mackey to Baltimore for the first time. At just 21 years old, Mackey has been captivating audiences across the Midwest with his original country-folk songs sung in the Cherokee language. His deep baritone voice—shaped by years of singing Cherokee ceremonial music—brings a fresh yet timeless sound that blends the raw spirit of Jimmie Rodgers and R.L. Burnside with the storytelling power of Cherokee tradition.
Presented together with the Center for Cultural Vibrancy—an organization dedicated to creating opportunities for cultural connections that support living traditions and energize vibrant communities—this special evening isn’t just a concert, it’s an opportunity to experience country music through a new lens. Whether you’re stepping out on the dance floor or soaking in the music with a cold drink in hand, you’ll be part of a night that celebrates cultural expression, social dancing as a form of community, and connection.
